3D Visualization

This is a time-gated MRI study of the pulsatile movement of the ventricular walls in the human brain. These fluid spaces provide mechanical cushioning to the brain and a means of transport for biochemical signals. The real-time flow dynamics of the ventricular system in the brain are poorly understood. Invasive monitoring of the brain allows for only one spatial location to be monitored, at great risk to the patient. Researchers at MAGIC used this study to create a 3D geometric model that will increase understanding of cerebrospinal fluid flow and its relationship to blood pulsatility and resulting brain motion.
